Getting there
There are several options for getting to Japan, but by far the easiest and most common is by air. Japan boasts several major international airports, and the construction industry seems bent on building as many more as they can get away with. The main gateways to Honshu are Narita (Tokyo), Nagoya, and Kansai (Osaka). In Hokkaido there is Sapporo with several international flights daily (some airlines stop over breifly on the way to or from Narita), and Kyushu has Fukuoka with several flights (many to other Asian countries).
There are also many other airports in Japan, some of which accept international flights and some of which do not. Check with your travel agent to see if there is one nearer your destination than, for example, Narita.
